RSH Plumbing Services specialise in the installation and servicing of industrial sized pressure reduction valves. A project was recently completed with the installation of two 110mm pressure reducing valves at two major complexes in the Sunninghill area as a result of high municipal pressure which attributed to the cause of numerous pipe bursts on separate occasions within the complexes. Pressure tests were conducted on numerous days and readings ranging between 1200 and 1600 Kpa were recorded. The pressure readings taken were above the recommended maximum pressure rating which the water reticulation in the complex could withstand thus resulting in pipe bursts throughout the complex on separate occasions

It was recommended that a pressure reduction valve be fitted on the main water supply to the complex which would regulate incoming pressure and keep it below a pre-set adjustment. The PRV regulates incoming pressure and prevents any further damage to the complex water reticulation system. The PRV is designed to keep incoming water at a constant pressure irrespective of the pressure in the municipal water line.

The PRV therefore ensures that should a sudden spike in municipal water pressure arise, the complex water pressure will maintain a constant pre-set pressure on the outlet end of the pressure reduction valve. This ensures peace of mind for all residents within the complex.

Keyes Close Water Supply Upgrade

RSH Plumbing services recently undertook a project in which the entire water supply infrastructure at a complex was upgraded. The building concerned was a triple story block of flats in Rosebank (JHB North).

The existing water reticulation at the building needed to be replaced which involved removing all existing piping and re-installing new high pressure piping whilst at the same time avoiding water supply disruptions to the building. The estimated time schedule for the completion of the job was 16 days. The upgrade consisted of removing the existing high pressure supply piping (GMS piping) and replacing it with new high pressure PEX Plomy Click piping. The project involved the upgrade of one vertical services duct at a time as to ensure minimal disruptions throughout the building. All employees onsite were required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times during the upgrade as per Health and Safety regulations. A ten meter scaffolding structure was setup in order to gain access to the service shafts. As anticipated, the project was completed as per the time schedule with a few minor problems encountered during the installation which were quickly repaired in order for the upgrade to continue.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the trustees of Keyes Close for awarding this particular project to RSH Plumbing Services. We believe our level of workmanship and professionalism to be the best in the industry and on the same token look forward to creating a sound business relationship by assisting with any future plumbing related problems which may arise.
